Smoking the Sound to kick off today

The fifth annual race, slated to run on the waters inside Deer Island in Biloxi, will be run on Saturday and Sunday.

The event, which drew crowds of more than 30,000 last year, kicks off today with the opening of Race Village at 10 a.m. where boats from all nine classes will be on display through Sunday.

Fans can visit Race Village, located north of the Isle Casino, by purchasing a $10 wristband that’s good through the weekend that includes entrance to the premium viewing areas at the Beau Rivage, Hard Rock and Isle Casino parking garages along with the Point Cadet Marina.

VIP viewing areas will be located at the Schooner Pier and Hard Rock.
