Airtran Ending Biloxi-Gulfport Service

Airtran, an Orlando, FL based airline has decided to ends its shuttle service to the Biloxi-Gulfport Airport. The Biloxi Casinos decided against setting up an air service contract and now the AirTran Airways Corp is making them pay for that oversight.
Citing the current Economic Turmoil as the main deciding factor, AirTran has stated that the market is not economically viable for them and they are ending their 10 years of filghts into the casino-rich Biloxi area.
Like other airlines, demand is down and airlines like Delta and AirTran are cutting services, reducing routes, and laying off employees to survive the downturn in the current economy. Hotels and Casinos all over Biloxi have felt the burn of the recession and have seen a major decrease in traverlers, and tourists in the area.
