Treasure Bay, Biloxi’s pirate-themed casino, has a hidden treasure on its ninth floor. The CQ Restaurant and blu Lounge.
“We wanted to keep the old feeling of the Captain’s Quarters, and also put the modern twist on it with the lounge,” said Brandon Dethloff, Manager of blu and CQ.
CQ and blu opened just over two weeks ago and while the restaurant’s namesake is pretty much the same, the restaurant and lounge reflects the casino’s more aesthetic, post-Katrina look.
“Business is picking up. It was a quiet opening, but the word is getting out there. And we’re definitely filling up,” Dethloff said.
Both the restaurant and lounge boast a view of the shoreline, and chefs for the restaurant say the menu offers up a little something to suit everyone’s palate.
“I think the menu is very international, but has a lot of Bistro favorites. We did bring back some favorites from the old Captain’s Quarters,” said Matthew Lewis, Chef DeCuisine of CQ Restuarant.
Blu, a tapas lounge, features small appetizer dishes and a wide array of wine and drinks.
“We have anything from a blueberry mojito to several different kinds of martinis, from pear to promegranate, basically, the hip new drinks that are out there,” Lewis said.
This is part of yet another phase of Treasure Bay’s ongoing expansion plans to build back better and stronger than ever on the North side of Highway 90.

This review of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi Mississippi was from last month. (September 2007).
From A. Brown: Who needs Vegas…we’ve found our new gambling desination here! A top-notch, fantastic experience from start to finish!
Me, my girlfriend, and two other friends went down for a couple of nights this past Labor Day weekend, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the time we arrived until we left, we were extremely impressed by all aspects of this hotel and casino. The design is clean, open and modern, with tons of rock and roll memorabilia and constant music and videos playing throughout all areas.
Rooms were nice and modern, with nice touches like a wall-mounted plasma tv and wireless internet. Beds were very comfortable. Some say the rooms are a little small, but they were fine for the four of us, as we just used them pretty much for sleeping and showering. The hotel and casino staff were all upbeat, very friendly and helpful.
Food was outstanding. We were shocked at the quality of offerings at the all-you-can-eat buffet. Friday and Saturday nights are seafood night, and it included sushi, crab legs, and even lobster claws just to name a few. There were many other things to choose from, but we simply ran out of room! We had an Angus burger from the 24/7 grill at 4am Sunday morning that was great as well.
We loved the casino layout too. The high ceilings with an open, circular design and the constant music and videos was so much nicer to us than the traditional layouts and atmospheres of the mega casinos.
I could go on and on about how great everything was. But in summary, if you’re looking for a place that offers an ultra-clean, modern design, high-energy rock and roll atmosphere, friendly and accomodating staff, and great food, then this is your place. As a matter of fact, we’re already planning our next trip and can’t wait to go back!
