Isle closes Bragozzo during construction
BILOXI - Bragozzo Osteria Wine Bar has temporarily closed at the Isle of Capri.
The signature Italian restaurant was opened by celebrity chef Luke Palladino in October 2006. It stopped serving in early September, said Rich Westfall, community development director at Isle of Capri.
Palladino operates another Bragozzo restaurant at the Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park, Fla.
“Bragozzo temporarily closed due to the construction,” Westfall said. Piling and foundation work is going on at the east side of the property where Bragozzo is located.
While foundation work continues for the expansion of the Isle of Capri, all other plans and the overall concept of the resort are being re-evaluated by corporate executives, Westfall said, “to be as competitive as we can be in the Biloxi marketplace.”
The Isle is banking on the casino becoming more competitive once the Biloxi Bay bridge reopens Nov. 1. “We have it in our sights,” said Westfall, and they had a front row seat to watch the reconstruction of the bridge that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The storm cut off the link between Ocean Springs and Biloxi that left the Isle of Capri at the end of a cul-de-sac. The resort will also be at the center of the festivities when the bridge reopens and traffic starts flowing again on U.S. 90 through East Biloxi.
