Chart-topping Daughtry performs a SOLD OUT show 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s Hard Rock Live (777 Beach Blvd., Biloxi). As Justin Hook’s reports in his page 27 column, the band’s debut single, “It’s Not Over,” topped all digital, mobile, radio and video platforms in the industry, and has reached or flirted with the peak of every major music benchmark for its genre. The album was certified triple platinum July 21, is the fastest selling rock debut in more than 20 years of Soundscan sales tracking and is the first rock release since 1988 to reach the top of the Billboard charts a second time after debuting below that spot.

TAYLOR HICKS

Taylor Hicks, who spawned a legion of fans known as the “Soul Patrol,” performs 8 p.m. today at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Taylor, who won the fifth season of the phenomenally popular TV show, “American Idol,” counts among his fans President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a fellow Birmingham, Ala., native.
