Parrothead Casino
Found this little excerpt and the Parrothead Casino title grabbed my attention.. That will probably be the nickname for the Margaritaville Casino in Biloxi.
Beach balladeer Jimmy Buffett, who has been singing about endless summers for nearly four decades, is partnering with Harrah’s Entertainment (parent company of Harrah’s Atlantic City) to develop a casino-hotel in Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Margaritaville Casino & Resort is scheduled to open in 2010, with construction beginning this summer. The $700 million resort is the single most expensive project to be started in Mississippi since Hurricane Katrina.
Margaritaville, located on a 46-acre site that was formerly occupied by two casinos wrecked by Katrina, will have 100,000 square feet of gambling space, about 800 rooms (a little more than half new construction and the rest renovated), a pool, a spa and a large retail area.
“I still have plenty of family here, cousins up and down this Gulf Coast, all the way to New Orleans and Mobile,” Buffett, who was born in Pascagoula, Miss., said during a news conference. “And we’ve been lucky enough to do fairly well in this phony-baloney job which I represent, and I just always thought people just needed a few hours to get away from the real world.”
Buffett already has a huge Margaritaville restaurant, bar and retail shop in the Flamingo casino-hotel in Las Vegas. His restaurant fronts on the Strip and is always packed.
Biloxi Entertainment will be releasing the information about shows, tickets, events, and concerts when Margaritaville releases it.
