Harrah’s reveals little of earningsÂ
BILOXI – Executives with Harrah’s Entertainment ran through the numbers and gave a presentation about the company’s business without taking questions from analysts during an earnings conference call Tuesday morning.
They revealed no details about expansion plans for the Biloxi Grand Casino or any other properties. The company’s earnings report for the fourth quarter did note it has experienced “higher development costs and master-plan expenses related to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Biloxi.”
One reason for being tight-lipped is the April 5 shareholder vote on the company’s $17.1 billion buyout by a private-equity partnership formed by Texas Pacific Group and Apollo Management.
The company posted net income of $47.6 million for the quarter compared with a $142.2 million loss a year ago because of hurricane-related costs and write-offs.
Harrah’s does not report earnings by specific properties. Revenues for the Louisiana/Mississippi Region increased 54.4 percent compared with a year ago. The increase was due to the reopening of Harrah’s New Orleans and the Grand Casino, the company said.
Insurance paid to the company since Hurricane Katrina has totaled $571 million.
For the year, the company had net income of $535.8 million compared with $236.4 million during 2005.

Tickets are on sale now for the 49th annual Ebony Fashion Fair traveling show to be presented in Biloxi at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino Grand Ballroom at 8 p.m. March 7.
Keying on the theme that “it’s back in style to have style,” the program is titled “Stylishly Hot” and features elaborate and dramatic attire by such world-famous designers as Angelo Marani, Jean Louis Scherrer, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Vivienne Westwood and Carolina Herrera.
Often compared to a Broadway production, the Ebony show is known for its high energy glamour, elegance and beauty.
Clothing will range from Marani’s flame-embellished trumpet gown and matching flame ombre fox cape, from which the show’s theme was taken, to Scherrer’s red plunging neckline jumpsuit worn with a plush fox swing coat dyed the same shade of red, to elaborate gowns by Westwood and Herrera.
Ebony Fashion Fair, since its inception in 1958, has donated nearly $54 million to charitable organizations, according to spokeswoman Staci Collins.
It is hosted here by Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and Zeta Phi Beta sorority with proceeds to benefit the Sigma/Zeta Educational Fund.
Tickets are $28 a person and available at the Beau Rivage box office, telephone 386-7111. For ticket information, contact Calvin Glover at 388-4038

Mr. Las Vegas himself is coming to Gulf Coast. I was reading that he also did a show a couple weeks back around Valentines day, is that correct. He will be performing at the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi on March 9th at 8pm. The Beau Rivage website and ticket office says this show is sold out. However you might be able to find some tickets on the online ticket sale sites, Ebay, Craigslist, or even in local newspapers etc.. I am sure this will be a great show.
