Isle of Capri president resigns

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. said Thursday that its president and chief operating officer, Tim Hinkley, is stepping down, and the company has launched a search for his replacement.

Hinkley, 51, will remain in his current role until a replacement is named, the company said in a release. No reason was given for his departure. Company spokeswoman Jill Haynes told the Business Journal that Hinkley was not leaving for another position.

In a statement, Bernard Goldstein, chairman and CEO of Isle of Capri, expressed gratitude for Hinkley’s “visionary leadership and unparalleled contribution to our growth over the past 17 years.”

“I am saddened by Tim’s decision to leave Isle of Capri and we wish him well,” Goldstein said.

Hinkley began with the firm in 1992 as general manager of its first casino in Biloxi, Miss. He replaced the retiring John Gallaway as president and chief operating officer of Isle of Capri Casinos in 2003 after having served as the company’s senior vice president of operations since 1997.

Prior to joining Isle of Capri, Hinkley had worked for a number of martime and hospitality-related firms, including as vice president of food, beverage and entertainment for Steamboat Casino Cruises in Iowa.

St. Louis-based Isle of Capri Casinos (Nasdaq: ISLE) currently owns and operates riverboat, dockside and land-based casinos at 13 locations in Mississippi, Louisiana, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri and Nevada. The company relocated its corporate headquarters to Creve Coeur, Mo., from Biloxi, Miss., in August 2006.
