Coast casino revenue dips

BILOXI - The revenue from Coast casinos (Including Gulfport and Biloxi Casinos) pulled back slightly during November from pre-Katrina levels after having held steady or surpassing those benchmarks during the prior two months.

The Mississippi State Tax Commission reported that the casinos took in $95.8 million in gross revenues during November, a 3.4 percent decrease from the same period in 2004 when revenues totaled $99.1 million. The casinos remained closed last autumn because of the damage and destruction from Hurricane Katrina.

October revenues of $92.1 million were in line with 2004.

September revenues soared to $109.6 million compared to $86.5 million in 2004.

The months of September, October and November are good comparison points because they reflect the earnings of all 10 casinos that have reopened.

Statewide, casinos took in $221.1 million during November, compared to $217.9 million in 2004. Mississippi River counties boosted the total with a $6.5 million increase over November 2004.
