Mississippi’s first dockside casino to reopen on land

BILOXI, Miss. The Isle of Capri — Mississippi’s first dockside casino in 1992 — will become the first to open on land on Monday.

Gamblers will be able to walk down the lobby past a new buffet and poker room into a ballroom-sized gambling space with table games and slot machines. All the machines are coinless and most of them are new, including the only “Hot Hot Penny” games on the coast.

The Isle’s temporary casino will be smaller than the gambling barge that Hurricane Katrina destroyed. it will have 930 slot machines and 27 table games. The Palace will also reopen a temporary and smaller casino on December 30th.

The Imperial Palace, now known as I-P Hotel and Casinos, reopened this week.
