I was planning a trip for the re-opening of the Imperial Place and Palace. I used a couple of the hotel search sites like Expedia, Travelocity, etc.. but I couldn’t find any hotel or motel rooms? I believe that both the IP and Palace have rooms designated to FEMA and contractors so I am not sure how many rooms will be available for casino patrons.
I am going to call the IP later today and verify, but maybe the opening will be geared towards locals and day trippers. I would love to make the trip but not sure if I could even find a hotel room.
Any feedback on hotel rooms, etc.. please post or email me. Thanks
Landry’s Restaurants, owner and operator of Golden Nugget hotel-casinos in Nevada, has proposed to develop the waterfront in Biloxi, Mississippi. If approved, the company plans to invest as much as $400 million in the development of land on the north side of U.S. 90. Golden Nugget’s proposed casino complex is expected to provide approximately 3,000 job vacancies.
According to company officials, the Biloxi project would offer casino visitors numerous attractive features, such as thrill rides, an aquarium restaurant and dancing fountains. The casino resort would also have 60,000 square feet of gambling space, a 750 spaces parking garage and 600 hotel rooms. Landry’s has already constructed similar resorts in several locations across Texas.
However, it is up to Isle of Capri Casinos to decide whether or not Landry’s’ project will ultimately materialize. Isle of Capri’s property, which is located on the south side of the highway, is entitled to a right of first refusal. Bill Kilduff, Isle casino’s general manger, was reported as saying that the company’s board of directors would first have to examine all investment possibilities, before coming to any conclusions.

BILOXI, Miss. (AP) – Three of Mississippi’s battered Gulf Coast casinos are expected to reopen by the end of the year.
The Imperial Palace, the Isle of Capri and the Palace Casino have all announced reopening dates in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The powerful storm, which struck Aug. 29, damaged or destroyed most of the 12 coast casinos and a 13th that was about to open.
The Imperial Palace reopens on Dec. 20. The reopening will be followed by the Isle of Capri on Dec. 26 and the Palace Casino’s on Dec. 30.
The Isle of Capri is putting its casino inside its new hotel tower, while the Palace’s initial operation will be smaller than it was before Hurricane Katrina.
Owen Nitz, a member of the family trust that owns the Imperial Palace, recently told the Mississippi Gaming Commission the casino and hotel amenities will be completely revamped.
“It’s going to be a mindblower,” Nitz said.
The Imperial Palace Casino will increase its slot machines from 1,400 to 1,900, its table games from 36 to 52 and will add a 16-table poker room. It will also have a new 470-seat buffet, steak and seafood restaurant, and 1,088 renovated guest rooms. Read the rest of this entry »
