Roy Anderson Corp. chosen to build Bacaran Bay Casino

BILOXI – Roy Anderson Corp. will build the $500 million Bacaran Bay Casino Resort and condominiums on Caillavet Street.

Torguson Gaming Group announced the selection of the contractor on Wednesday.

“We chose Roy Anderson because of his commitment to quality and because of his background not only in building casino resorts, but also in building community relationships,” said Marlin Torguson, the CEO of Torguson Gaming. “He has constructed millions of square feet of gaming and hospitality facilities and is one of the largest and most dependable contractors locally and in the United States.”

Torguson hopes to break ground on the project later this year, but a legal challenge to the casino’s location has been filed. An environmental group has asked a chancery judge to set aside the decision of the Department of Marine Resources to grant environmental permits for the project. Arguments are set for early September.

The construction of the resort is expected to take over 4.5 million hours and use 35 million pounds of structural steel.

“We appreciate the confidence that Torguson Gaming Group has placed in us,” said Roy Anderson III. “It will be the largest project we have been involved with on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and it will significantly benefit the area.”

The resort, which will go on a 12-acre site, will also include the Coast’s first condominium hotel, the Villas at Bacaran Bay. There will be seven restaurants, six movie theaters, a 40-lane bowling center, two wedding chapels, a 4,000-seat entertainment venue and an off-site Arnold Palmer signature golf course.
