MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: “Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., an emerging global gambling company, will celebrate a multimillion-dollar investment at its home base next week with a grand opening ceremony for its new hotel tower in Biloxi.
“Although the Isle already operates casinos in Grand Bahama and England and is competing for a license in Singapore, Biloxi is also key to its future growth. The Biloxi hotel is now the corporation’s largest. The Isle’s next move is to replace its existing gambling barge with a casino double in size.
“…The hotel expansion and the new casino are, collectively, a $170 million investment. The Isle will celebrate the hotel’s opening on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and property tours for VIP guests.
“The company has invested almost $300 million in Biloxi since it opened the South’s first legal casino on Point Cadet in 1992…”

Don’t even ask the guys putting the roof on the Hard Rock in Biloxi

If you’re new to the area, you’ve probably noticed summer in the Deep South is hot and humid – steam-bath hot and humid, pressure-cooker hot and humid.
Most of us can simply keep the AC cranked for comfort, but have you ever wondered about the poor buggers who do the area’s hottest jobs? And we don’t mean hot, as in “most desirable.”
How about roofers, especially the guys on the roof of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi? Every afternoon last week, a dozen men labored up there with mops, swabbing the roof with 500-degree tar.
